Dia de Los Muertos is a deeply meaningful tradition that celebrates and remembers loved ones who have died. Families create Ofrendas, which is an altar, to place pictures and favorite foods, and celebrate the belief that spirits of the deceased will return to visit. Oct 27th is dedicated to companion pets that arrive first, as Dia de Los Muertos is traditionally on Nov 1-2 when human family arrives. We are opening a community Ofrenda for Pets from 4pm-6pm for families to bring a COPY of a photo to add to the altar and favorite treats that will be left on the ofrenda.
At 6pm, we will go deeper into remembrance through the offering of a cup of ceremonial cacao (drinking chocolate). We will sit together in community and take a moment to really honor our bonds and the depth of our love. I will share why cacao has helped heal my heart and fill in the cracks that grief created. We will be together from 6-7pm and ask $10 for a cup of rich, made with love, ethically sourced cacao.
